Hurricane Preparedness Guide
Step-by-Step Awning Removal Instructions All of us in South Florida know the best protection we have against a hurricane is adequate preparation. An important part of your planning is to also protect your awning investment. Most awnings are designed and engineered so that the covers can be safely removed without damage and stored in a secure area in the event of an emergency. After a storm has passed, the awnings can easily be restored to their original positions.
Due to the relatively short notice we all have of an approaching hurricane, it is not possible for us to visit all our customer' homes and places of business to remove awning covers. We therefore ask that you save the following instructions for simple removal in a safe place for easy reference in the event of a major storm.
Most local building codes state that awning covers should be removed if winds are expected to be more than 74 mph. However, we recommend that covers be removed well before hurricane-strength winds are reached. Try to have at least two people involved to simplify the process.
